Gold Swim School was born from a simple but powerful belief — that every child deserves to feel safe, confident, and joyful in the water.
In 1996, during the excitement of the Atlanta Olympics, founders Pat and Beth Murphy began offering swim lessons to local families in their backyard pool. Word quickly spread about their warm, encouraging approach, and before long, their classes were full every summer.
As demand grew, the Murphys partnered with the City of Woodstock and local community leaders to build a year-round swim facility — a space where children could learn and families could gather.
In just 60 days, the first Chattahoochee Gold pool was built, launching what would become a decades-long legacy of swim education and community connection.

For more than three decades, Gold Swim School has helped thousands of children (and adults!) develop life-saving swim skills and a love for the water. But beyond the strokes and safety drills, our true purpose is building confidence — in the pool and beyond it.
